What are tips about Travel Insurance and explain about Schengen travel insurance?

Travel insurance is a term that relates to coverage of medical expenses and other unexpected issues that occur while traveling. If you’re wondering whether you need health insurance when traveling in a foreign country, the answer is yes. But keep in mind, it also depends on your chosen destination and whether your current health insurance policy offers international coverage.

Aside from possible medical expenses, travel insurance can cover losses you incur while in a foreign country including lost luggage, unexpected flight cancellations or issues with accommodations. In addition, whether you’re only traveling once or several times throughout the year, purchasing travel insurance is that extra piece of trip protection you will want to have. The policy will cover the exact number of days you plan on spending in Schengen territory.

Providers of Schengen Insurance Policies

Above all, verify whether or not your current medical insurance provides international coverage. If not, choose a company offers the coverage levels and documentation required by countries in the Schengen territory.

Tips about Schengen Insurance

As previously mentioned, verifying whether your current health policy contains an international clause. Keep in mind that could mean that it includes or excludes use outside of the United States. If you’re going to travel into Schengen territory and cannot afford to pay out of pocket medical expenses, purchasing extra insurance to cover you while traveling is a good idea. Depending on where someone is going, the risk of illness can vary due to climate changes or being exposed to unfamiliar microbes. People with pre-existing conditions need to take the precautions and purchase travel insurance(that covers pre-existing conditions) to be on the safe side.

While planning your vacation, take the time to investigate if mandatory insurance coverage is required. Being refused entrance into your dream destination due to lack of appropriate coverage can easily be avoided.

What is the Travel Medical Insurance Criteria for the Schengen Visa?

Schengen Visa Travel Insurance
Introduction
Schengen states have made it mandatory for all theapplicants to avail visa travel insurance as it helps in coping with mammoth expenses in case of any unforeseen medical complication. Besides, visa travel insurance provides financial security to backpackers so that they can fully enjoy their journey without any anxiety.

Travel Medical Insurance Criteria

•           The availed medical insurance must cover minimum expenses equivalent to 30000 EUR or 50000 USD.
•           It should cover all expenses pertaining to repatriation for medical reasons, medical emergency, treatment in hospital and death.
It is pertinent here to mention that not all travelers are obliged to avail the insurance. Rather, it is compulsory only for visa nationalities.

The aforesaid group is bound to avail medical insurance regardless if they are traveling to the Schengen Area on the visit, tourism, business, study or any other visa.

The citizens of those countries who enjoy visa-free procedures with EU are not bound to avail the policy. Medical insurance is optional for them and embassies or consulates do not demand it from them.

Extract from “Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009”, which entered into force on April 5 of 2010:

“… Applicants for a uniform visa for one or two entries shall prove that they are in possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance to cover any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment or death, during their stay(s) on the territory of the Member States.

The insurance shall be valid throughout the territory of the Schengen Area Member States and cover the entire period of the person’s intended stay or transit. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30,000” (…)

States Covered by Schengen Travel Insurance

The Schengen medical insurance covers the following states:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

How long is the validity of the visa?

Depends on the itinerary you will submit and the embassy and how strong and curated your documents are!! ðŸ˜›

How much cash to have within the bank for visa approval ?

No one really knows for sure what the minimum amount is.
So here’s the Thumb Rule:

Add the price of the flights you reserved and therefore the cost of the accommodations and Euro 60 per day.

Some embassies need 45 Euro per day, some 50, some 55.To be on the safe side, use 60 Euro per day per person.

Of course, that can’t be the sole quantity in your account.

Which Schengen Country’s Embassy Should You Apply For?

There’s a predetermined order that needs to be followed while choosing the embassy to file your Schengen visa application.

1.         If you plan to travel only onecountry in the Schengen zone, apply at the embassy of the country you intend to visit. Quite obvious, I know ðŸ™‚

2.         If you are going to travel to more than one Schengen state, apply at the embassy of the country you intend to spend the maximum number of days in, called as the main or primary destination.

3.         If you mean to spend the equal number of days in two or more Schengen countries, apply at the embassy of the country you propose to enter the Schengen area through, called as the port of entry.

Denmark Embassy also handles the visa process for Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.
The Faroe Islands and Greenland though part of Kingdom of Denmark are not the part of Schengen Region. So, you can’t enter here based on your Schengen visa.

You have to write a different cover letter along with the Schengen visa cover letter and choose multiple entry visa if Greenland or Faroe Islands are part of your travel plan.

You need a Schengen Visa issued by the Danish Consulate with a sticker mentioning that it’s valid for the Faroe Islands or/and Greenland too.

Apply through Danish VFS and mention on the application form Greenland or the Faroe Islands as the main destination.

Svalbardis not a part of the Schengen treaty system. To visit Svalbard, one needs a Schengen visa with two or multiple entries.

Svalbard is visa-free but Schengen Visa is required because you have to enter and exit the Schengen region while traveling to this Norwegian archipelago.

Another stratagem is to choose the country with a lower Schengen visa rejection rate.
France and Germany are known to be the fastest of the lot, however, Spain is infamous for being the toughest to grant Schengen Visa. Greece is known for its higher than normal share of personal interviews.

Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Iceland, Slovakia, Poland, Finland, Luxembourg, and the Czech Republic have the lowest Schengen visa rejection rate which ranges from 0.5% to 2.5 %.
Poland is the easiest country to apply for a Schengen Visa from India with the fastest visa processing rate.

It’s a safe bet to check the embassy toughness index before zeroing down on the country to apply.

What must be the coverage of a valid Schengen travel insurance and What are the advantages of Travel Insurance?

Schengen embassies do have a minimum coverage requirement for a travel insurance to be considered valid for travel. Here are the minimum coverage requirements for the Schengen travel insurance:

·         A medical coverage of at least €30,000 or no less than $50,000
·         A validity period that covers the entire duration of stay within the Schengen area
·         A repatriation coverage for medical emergencies or death

These required coverage are really very basic which is probably one of the reasons why travellers do not see purchasing a travel insurance as a good enoughinvestment. However, since this is a requirement, there is no other choice but to get one. On the contrary, many travel insurance providers have thought of giving better travel insurance coverage for the same fee. Doing this gives insurance providers better edge over competing providers as well as more options for travellers.

Here are some upgrades to the basic Schengen travel insurance coverage:

·            Full or partial refund of a cancelled trip due to natural causes or medical emergencies

·           Allowance for an interrupted trip due to natural causes or medical emergencies

·           Accidental death, injury or disablement benefit

·         Lost or stolen luggage benefit

·         Damaged personal property or travel documents benefit

·         Act of terrorism benefit

These are just some of the travel insurance coverage upgrades. There may be more or less depending on the insurance provider you choose. To get a better quotation, better check the Schengen Travel Insurance, an online insurance provider that can give you a quick quotation.

What are the advantages of having a travel insurance?
There are many advantages of having a travel insurance, especially when you are visiting a highly developed country with a high cost of living. The Schengen area is definitely counted as a highly developed area and the cost of living in any of the member countries are very high. This means that getting sick while in transit or while vacationing within the Schengen area will cost a lot of money. That is if you are not insured. This is also the reason why the Schengen group decided to make a travel insurance rule to Schengentourist visa applicants. It is not to give travellers a harder time or a dearer travel expense but to protect them from a potentially high medical expense if in case a medical emergency occurs while within the Schengen area.

Apart from the obvious medical coverage benefit, another advantage of getting an upgraded travel insurance is having a safety net in case of theft, misplaced or broken luggage, or worse trip interruption. All of these cost extra pocket money but if you are insured, all these extra expenses will be covered by your insurance provider. See how important it is to be insured?

Five-year multiple-entry Schengen Visa

You can apply for a five-year multiple-entry visa if you have obtained and lawfully used a previous multiple-entry visa valid for at least two years over the past three years.

Limited Territorial Visa

Importance of Schengen Tourist Visa

Not long ago, before obtaining my Finnish citizenship, I needed to apply for a Schengen visa in order to enter Finland as it is a Schengen territory. At that time, I needed to apply for a Schengen student visa as the purpose of my visit was, obviously, to study in Finland, where I got a placement in a College to become a Chef.

The process was simple and straightforward and not much different than the Schengen tourist visa other than a few other important documents were asked (i.e., School acceptance letter). That said, the basic yet most important value we’ll tell you in this post is the fact that you need a basic understanding of the following:

           The purpose of your travels

•           You need to be absolutely clearabout your itinerary and agenda. Make it as detailed as possible if you’re drafting this!

        Financial stability

Europe is expensive; thus, they need financial proof that you can travel at your own expense and won’t need to seek work in order to sustain your travels.

Financial support from other people should also be declared.

and completion of the required documents

It is absolutely crucial that you meet all the requirements the embassy is asking from you!
We advise that you check and call your local embassy and ask for a detailed instruction as to what sort of documents they’ll need from you. Some embassy is a tad different than the other, and depending on where you’re from, the required documents can vary from country to country.

It is important that everyone who tries to apply for a visitor visa should understand that no embassy will ever guarantee you approval making this article about Schengen visa for tourists a mere guideline to walk you through everything you need to complete the application process. However, if you’re interested in staying in Europe for longer than three months with multiple entry visa,  please  visit this website   https://www.schengenvisaitinerary.com/ – it is rich with information!

How long does it take for a Schengen Visa to be approved and Schengen Visa valid?

There is no fixed period, and it depends a great deal on several different factors. Hence it is advisable that the embassies be provided enough time for processing the visa. In some cases, it may take only a couple of weeks, while others have reported having to wait up to two months to get their visas.

During peak seasons, there are a lot of tourists visiting the Schengencountries, so the embassies are required to deal with tons of applications. These are some of the factors that one needs to take into consideration before applying. Also, the application is submitted should be complete so that any unwanted delays are avoided later.

How much does it cost to apply for a Schengen Visa?

Thecost of applying for a Schengen Visa will depend entirely on the prevailingexchange rate between the local currency and Euros and is likely to change from time to time. It is also important to note that payments made for a visa are non-refundable. Usually, no fee is applicable for kids under the age of 6 years.

Applicants should also inquire with the embassy if there are any additional charges that they need to pay. The payment is mostly taken in cash, and there is a reluctance among the embassy workers to provide change, so it is advisable to carry the exact amount while proceeding for the application.

How long is a Schengen Visa valid?

Thevalidity of the Schengen Visa is for a maximum period of 90 days. Those planning to travel to multiple countries during the period or having intentions of traveling in and out of the Schengen Zone should remember to mark the “multiple entry” option in the application form.

Applicants receiving approval for multiple entries are given a visa valid for six months, which means that they can travel in and out of the Schengen Zone for 90 days within a 6-month period.

A COMPLETE GUIDE ON HOW TO APPLY FOR A SCHENGEN VISA FOR TOURISTS

A tourist visa serves as an authorization to citizens of other countries for entering a respective country for the sole purpose of traveling within the designated area of the country either on a pleasure trip or while on a visit to their relatives in that country. Anyone holding a tourist visa is exempted from holding citizenship to visit that country or their relatives in that country.
Certain limitations are, however, applicable in case of issue of a tourist visa through the process of obtaining one is far simpler compared to that of a business visa. A tourist visa allows an individual to reside in a country for a maximum period of 3 months or 90 days unless stated differently in the visa. The visa holder does not have the right to seek employment in the country for the period unless mentioned otherwise in the visa.
ETIAS EU waiver visa vs. Schengen visa: Which one should you get?
With the new laws coming and going, EU has been one of the top destinations to visit in the world, and because of that, the borders are tightening up and becoming more strict when it comes to tourist control. With that said, do you qualify for an EU waiver visa or should you apply for a Schengen visa?
Here’s a quick description of what is the difference between ETIAS and aSchengen visa:
  • ETIAS EU waiver visa – regarded as a way to tighten the borders in EU, ETIAS is similar to USA’s ESTAS waiver visa, which you can apply online. ETIAS is an electronic system that keeps track of visitors from countries that do not need a visa to enter the Schengen zone. You can apply for an ETIAS EU waiver visa online if you’re part of the 60 countries who are eligible for visa-free entry to Schengen and EU areas.
  • Schengen visa – If you’re not part of the 60 countries who can obtain a visa-free entry to Schengen zones, then you would need to apply for a Schengen visa in order to travel to any EU countries that require this specific visa from your country. You would need to apply for this visa before you book your trip to Europe, and below is the detailed guide on how to obtain it. Once you have a valid Schengen visa, you can freely roam around all countries that are part of the Schengen zone (you can see the list below).

First thing’s first, do you need a visa to enter Schengen territories?

Making a fascinating trip around Europe is made easier by applying for a Schengen Visa prior to your trip. The Schengen Visa allows you to visit the countries who have signed the Schengen agreement (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, and Norway) without the need to apply for a separate visa for each country. However, traveling to the United Kingdom and Ireland requires you to get a separate visa.

The Schengen Visa allows you to travel around the said countries for a maximum of 90 days within a 6-month period. It would be best to apply for your Schengen Visa at least 6 weeks before your trip, and it would be best to make your travel arrangements prior to the trip as extending this kind of visa is a rather difficult process.

You must file your application for the Schengen Visa on the consulate/ embassy of the country where you intend to stay for the most part of your trip, or where you will make your first point of entry, in case you are planning to visit several Schengen states without having a main destination.

As for the requirements, you must fill up the Schengen Visa application form with your pers
onal details and provide a copy of your passport along with the original version. You will also be asked to show proof of a stable financial background in the form of bank statements, property certificates, and other related documents. Proof of travel arrangements and accommodations are also required, along with hotel booking receipts, airline tickets and itineraries. Health and Travel Insurance is also a main requirement prior to obtaining a Schengen Visa.

If you are currently employed, it will also be best to present a certification from your employer verifying your occupation, along with presenting your most recent income statements. You will also need to present an invitation letter (along with its translation) if there is a person/ organization hosting you during the trip, which will be certified by the Foreign Ministry of the country where you have filed your application for the Schengen Visa.

Even if you present all the required documents, obtaining a Schengen Visa is not guaranteed. The consulate or embassy may ask for additional documents as required, and it is best not to make any non-refundable travel arrangements until you have received the visa.

Therefore, it will be best to engage the services of a reputable Thai law firm if you want to apply for a Schengen Visa. As the application can become a tedious process with all the required paperwork, seeking the services of a law firm may be a good option if you want all your documents in order, thus expediting the process.

With the help of an efficient law firm specializing in visa applications, your trip to Europe is assured to be a most unforgettable one.

The reason embassies require you to show proof of valid travel insurance is pretty simple; medical expenses are extremely costly, and if the different national governments didn’t require visitors to have their own insurance already in place, they would have to pay millions each year for travelers who either who are in need of medical care while visiting their country.

What are the Requirements for travel insurance for Schengen Visa and How to apply for this travel insurance?

Requirements For Travel Insurance For Schengen Visa:
The first thing you have to do, is make sure you know what the requirements are for your Travel Insurance for Schengen Visa, as it can be slightly different from other travel insurance requirements.
In general, a travel insurance will cover a lot more than the checklist below, however this checklist is what is mandatory for your Travel Insurance for Schengen Visa and your Tourist Schengen Visa Application. If your travel insurance does not meet these criteria, your application will be rejected. The mandatory medical insurance requirements for any travel Insurance accompanying a Schengen Visa application are:

·         The insurance must cover urgent medical expenses as well as repatriation to your state of residence (in other words it must cover expenses in relation to your return to your home country)

·         The insurance must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in the Schengen Member States

·         The insurance must have a minimum coverage of €30,000

Theseare the mandatory requirements for any Travel Insurance for Schengen Visa, but make sure you read through the terms and conditions of your insurance thoroughly. For example, many insurance companies will not cover accidents caused by participating in “extreme sports”, but what many people don’t know is that even something as common as horse riding is in some cases considered extreme sport. Contact your insurance company if you are in doubt about your Travel Insurance For Schengen Visa.

How to apply for this travel insurance document?

If you have an agency that is processing all papers and requirements for you, they can easily get you one together with other groups of travelers.

Insurance policy and certificate is issued once you paid and filled out their application forms. You have to keep that certificate because it is required to submit in the embassy on your application for a Schengen visa.

If you want to get it yourself, you can do so since it’s so easy. Tell theinsurance staff or underwriter you need travel insurance for your Schengenvisa. They will then give you the forms you need to fill out with your personal information.

Choose the premiums and coverage required by the embassy (ie French Embassy, Spain Embassy, Italian Embassy in Manila etc). If you don’t know the requirement, just choose the minimum coverage listed above which is 30,000 Euros with 15 days allowance (current minimum requirement as I write this page).
